Description
‘Fireside Cats’ by Hilary Whyard | Wood Engraving | 1980s
An intricate and wonderfully detailed woodblock print featuring two cat friends, part of a small series produced by artist and printmaker Hilary Whyard in the early phase of her career, around 1983.
Here the scene is an English fireside around Christmas-time, wrapped presents on the book-case and cards on the mantelpiece, a handsome black cat perched on the armchair and a chummily-blinking tabby curled up on the hearth rug. The fine quality of the engraver’s skill is displayed particularly in the curl of black cat’s tail around his feet and the detailed fabric of the armchair.
This print has been professionally mounted with quality pH neutral materials and is ready to give as a gift or place into your choice of 8″ x 10″ frame. As with all prints from Thrilled Kitty, this piece is guaranteed to be a genuine work and not a copy or reproduction.
