Whiskered Cat Brooch | Hallmarked Sterling Silver

A fantastic fun brooch, superbly cast in solid sterling silver with embossed features and contrasting oxidised centre. This brooch has a striking three-dimensional effect, with swishing tail and silver wire whiskers. At 12 grams of solid silver this is a substantial piece best suited to heavier clothing, secured with the well-made pin and roll-over clasp on the rear. Also on the rear can be found a full set of Assay Office hallmarks.

Condition Report: A modern piece in excellent condition. The silver has been professionally cleaned and polished to a fine bright finish (excluding the deliberately oxidised accents which are intentionally added to bring out the detail of the casting), but please remember that, as a soft metal, silver is always liable to show some slight marks and fine scratches from handling when inspected closely, even when brand new.

Marks: 925 purity mark for sterling silver on right rear side. On the left rear side can be found a tiny full set of hallmarks. From left to right are the Sponsor’s Mark (TS) and Fineness Mark (925); the next two marks have not struck clearly but we believe them to be (making a best guess under magnification) the Traditional Fineness Symbol and Assay Office Mark for the Edinburgh Assay Office.
