Description
‘Die Vogelkatze’ by Carl Gerber | Engraving | 1885
A magnificently observed tuxedo cat displays super-feline powers of restraint as a starling nips his tail and a diverse flock of a dozen or more bird species gathers around him – a treat for cat lovers and ornithologists alike! This superb engraving of Carl Gerber’s original work was commissioned to accompany an article by writer Karl Ruß in an 1885 edition of the journal Die Gartenlaube, which mentions a calm and gentle black cat owned by his daughter.
